Math tutor - and porn producer - suing Palm Beach schools for prohibiting his tutoring ads

(CBS) MIAMI - A South Florida man who has been involved in producing pornography is suing Palm Beach County schools, claiming the district is preventing him from promoting his math tutoring business.

David Mech told CBS Miami that when first put up his banner advertising his "happy fun math tutoring" program, the customers added up.

"I was getting 12 students a month," said Mech. "We estimate that each client is about $2,500 in long-term revenue to the business."

However, according to CBS Miami, that was before the Palm Beach County School District discovered that Mech also ran David Pounder Productions, whose webpage describes Mech as "expert" on adult entertainment and pornography.

He once starred in over 100 hardcore films, CBS Miami reports.

After getting a letter from the district that said he violated ad policy, the banners were taken down. Mech said that violated his civil rights and prevents him from earning a living.

He filed a federal lawsuit.

Mech said his two companies are entirely separate and he has done nothing illegal. He also said that he never discussed adult entertainment with the kids he tutored.

"I have absolutely no criminal history. I have perfect credit, particularly in this market; I'm not a threat to anybody," said Mech. "Anybody that knows me is like 'Dave's such a happy, fun guy,'" he told CBS Miami.

However, the district said in a statement that they plan to defend the policy which states principals shall use their discretion in selecting and approving business to advertise on school grounds.

"We are concerned because we have been contacted by a number of parents regarding this issue," said the statement from the Palm Beach School Board, according to the station.

Mech said if he fails in his lawsuit, he will appeal.

He says he stopped producing porn in 2010.
