(CBS) Celebrity power couple Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher have enough money to eat food that you can only dream about, but for at least the next 10 days, it's the two actors who will be dreaming of eating real food.

That's because Moore and Kutcher have started a master cleanse - a detoxification diet that usually includes purified water, lemons, maple syrup and cayenne pepper. There's also quite a bit of "flushing" going on, as the program requires laxatives.

The cleanse typically lasts from 10 to 45 days.

The news came out via both celebrities' Twitter accounts.

"9 hrs into the master cleanse. I want a steak, a beer, and a blow-pop. Hmmm this is gonna be rough," Kutcher tweeted over the weekend.

"2nd day of master cleanse and off to hike with hubby and the dogs. 2nd day better than the 1st!," Demi wrote on Sunday.

Proponents of the detox program claim that their urges to smoke, imbibe alcohol and drink coffee slowly melt away as do the pounds.

But critics say the diet is basically a scam.

"The problem with any of these health claims is you are depleting your body of nutrients, proteins and other energy sources your body needs," says Marisa Sherry, a New York-based registered dietitian. "You are also slowing down your metabolism. You may lose weight but it's not permanent."

She added: "There is no proof that it removes any toxins from your body."

Dieters may also "experience headaches, fatigue, dizziness, sluggishness, diarrhea, nausea, or constipation," according to WebMD.

What could be more glamorous than that?
