Maryland woman trapped in car 3 days by snow rescued

ACCOKEEK, Md. - Maryland authorities say a woman has been rescued after being stranded inside a car buried in snow for three days.

The woman had been in the car since Friday, when the massive East Coast blizzard began, and was rescued Monday night near Accokeek.

Prince George's County firefighters and medics worked with Maryland National Guard troops in a Humvee to reach the snowed-in vehicle. WJLA first reported the incident.

Officials say the woman was conscious and uninjured.

Neighbor Stephen Mackey tells The Associated Press that he called authorities about the woman's status. He says she'd lost her home, was living in her car, and refused offers of assistance over the storm.

Prince George's County officials say in a statement that she resisted leaving her vehicle but was taken to the hospital and treated for hypothermia. Her name hasn't been released.
