Man gets 20-year prison term in 2014 death of Phoenix woman

PHOENIX --A man accused of killing a Phoenix woman whose body was found in a suitcase has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for second-degree murder.

Maricopa County Superior Court officials say 37-year-old Semyon Shamsiyev was sentenced Friday.

He reached a plea agreement after originally pleading not guilty to charges of first-degree murder and abandoning a body.

Authorities say the body of 25-year-old Kali Bouldin was in a suitcase found behind a Phoenix strip mall on Dec. 4, 2014.

Police say Bouldin was reported missing that night and her car was found in an apartment complex near where her body was found.

Court records show Shamsiyev bought the suitcase with cash at a nearby store less than two hours before a restaurant employee discovered Bouldin's body.
