Maine man charged with murdering mother-in-law

PERU, Maine - Maine State Police say a 33-year-old man has been arrested in the death of his mother-in-law, whose body was found over the weekend in the house they shared in the town of Peru.

Spokesman Steve McCausland says 33-year-old Paul Orchard faces a murder charge in the death of 57-year-old Paula Nuttall, reports CBS affiliate WGME. She was found dead Saturday morning in the kitchen of the home she shared with four other family members. Police haven't said how she died.

McCausland says Orchard was arrested Sunday night after he was discharged from the hospital. Police haven't said why he was hospitalized or what led them to suspect him in Nuttall's death.

Orchard is being held in the Oxford County jail. A court appearance is expected either Tuesday or Wednesday.
