(CBS) "Gossip Girl" star Leighton Meester has filed a lawsuit against her mother, claiming that she took money the actress had sent to her brother and used it for Botox, plastic surgery and hair extensions.

According to the suit, obtained by TMZ, Meester sends $7,500 a month to her mother, Constance Meester, to care for her younger brother, Lex, who has severe medical issues.

But, according to the website, the suit claims that Constance - who refuses to work - took the money for cosmetic procedures and other personal expenses.

The lawsuit also alleges that Constance threatened her daughter with a $3 million lawsuit unless she started sending $10,000 a month, because her mother claims they had an oral contract requiring Leighton to do so.

The 25-year-old actress, who plays Blair Waldorf on the hit CW series, wants a judge to declare that there was never a contract.

Constance Meester has a history of getting in trouble with the law. She gave birth to her famous daughter while serving a federal prison sentence for her part in a ring that smuggled drugs from Jamaica to the United States, New York's Daily News notes.

Earlier this year, a California woman obtained a temporary restraining order against the 54-year-old, claiming Constance had been making death threats against the woman and her minor son.
