Las Vegas mother shot while teaching daughter how to drive

LAS VEGAS - Police say a mother teaching her teenage daughter to drive was shot by a gunman in an apparent road-rage incident as they headed toward their northwest Las Vegas home.

Officer Miguel Garcia said Friday that investigators are sorting through conflicting reports, but are looking for the shooter and at least one other person in a car that fled the scene about 11:30 p.m. Thursday.

The woman's husband, Robert Meyers, tells the Associated Press that his wife, Tammy Meyers, 45, was shot in the head outside their home and is on life support at a hospital.

According to CBS affiliate KLAS, investigators believe the car carrying the woman and her daughter had some kind contact with another car whose driver followed the pair to their home.

Robert Myers says a vehicle followed his wife home after the driving lesson in a school parking lot, and that vehicle passed the pair and hit the brakes, before Tammy Meyers drove around it.

Meyers also said their 22-year-old son then fired several shots with a 9mm handgun and may have hit the fleeing car.
