Kite-skier killed after gust of wind propels him into shed
HARRISON, Maine -- Authorities say a gust of wind has sent a Maine kite-skier crashing into a metal shed, causing fatal injuries.
Chief Deputy Naldo Gagnon of the Cumberland County Sheriff's office says 49-year-old Adam Tsapis was on Crystal Lake in Harrison at about 11 a.m. Monday using a kite to propel him across the snow when a gust of wind grabbed his kite and lifted him off the ice. He drifted ashore and struck the shed.
Gagnon says the man suffered traumatic injuries to a leg and arm.
He says Tsapis was taken first to Bridgton Hospital and then flown to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, where he died from his injuries.
