Kerry Washington taking a "teeny" break from social media

Kerry Washington is taking more than just a break from "Scandal" in the upcoming months.

The pregnant actress took to social media early Tuesday to let her fans know she will be on a "teeny" time out from her public platforms.

"Feeling called to be a bit more quiet and still," she captioned a black and white Instagram video of a heart in the sand being washed away by the water.

"Not sure how long it'll last but don't worry, I'll be back soon enough," she added as feet are shown walking along the shore in the short clip.

Washington went on to praise her loyal fans and followers.

"This space has become such a community. I'm very grateful. Thank you. I'll be thinking of you and I'm sending love to you wherever you are...#MermaidGram."

The Scandal star's announcement follows the news that she is expecting her second child with her husband, Nnamdi Asomugha. ABC also announced Tuesday that the hit show will begin Season 6 midseason 2017, instead of this fall.

"We did have to make some adjustments to Scandal for a variety of reasons that had to do with the production schedule," the network's chief Channing Dungey told reporters ahead of the ABC Upfronts.

Washington, 39, who is notoriously private about her personal life, first showed off her growing bump at the Met Gala in early May.

The following week, she appeared on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" alongside TGIT showrunner Shonda Rhimes and coyly discussed expecting again.

"Who do you call first, your parents or Shonda, when you find out that you're pregnant?" Kimmel asked.

"My parents don't want me to answer that," Washington responded with a laugh.

"I get really, really excited," Rhimes added of the baby news. "I like babies a lot."

Washington opened up to ET last February about taking her 2-year-old daughter, Isabelle, on the Scandal set.

Perhaps the same plan is in the works for when baby No. 2 arrives?

"I'm really blessed because my daughter gets to be at work with me a lot so that's really fun and wonderful. Everybody at work really likes it," she said at the time. "She brings a lot of joy wherever she is so it's fun to have her around."
