Two days before the awards ceremony, Perry tweeted: "Unfortunately I will not be able to attend the People's Choice Awards. I want to thank u all for voting for me, fingers crossed! #KATYCATS."

She did not provide a reason for why she was backing out.

The People's Choice Awards will air Wednesday at 9 p.m. ET on CBS. Other stars expected to attend include Robert Pattinson, Demi Lovato, Ashley Greene, Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth, Vanessa Hudgens and Julianne Hough. "The Big Bang Theory" star Kaley Cuoco will host.
