Katie Couric's Notebook: Snow Day
Unfortunately, many of their bosses are saying not snow fast.
As USA Today reported, telecommuting is raining on our snow days. As of 2009, 63 percent of American households had high speed internet access. Office workers can complete many of the same tasks in their kitchens that they do in their cubicles.
And snow days are no walk in the park for the economy. Closing the federal government for just one day can cost as much as $100 million.
Cisco conducted a study of employees who work from home, and found that telecommuting actually increased productivity and generated savings of more than $200 million.
So, grab your snuggie, curl up on the couch...and get to work.
Snow long to the unexpected day off.
That's a page from my notebook.
