Kathleen Thurston, New York woman, charged with stalking actor Hugh Jackman

(CBS/AP) NEW YORK - Actor Hugh Jackman is shaken but OK after an alleged stalker rushed him at a New York City gym on Saturday morning and threw a razor at him, CBS New York reports.

Jackman told CBS New York that he was working out at Gotham Gym in Manhattan's West Village neighborhood when 47-year-old Kathleen Thurston confronted him outside the gym, telling the "X-men" star she loved him and asked him if they were going to get married.

"It was frightening," Jackman said Sunday.

Police said Jackman tried to defuse the situation and told the woman not to touch him. She allegedly followed Jackman inside the gym, crying and screaming, while pulling out an electric razor filled with hair out of her waistband and tossed it at Jackman.

Thurston then fled the scene and was arrested a few blocks from the gym, CBS New York reports. Jackman wasn't hurt.

Police said Thurston has gone near Jackman and his family before. Jackman has reportedly seen the woman outside his home and outside his daughter's school, according to the station.

"Here's a woman who obviously needs help so I just hope she gets the help she needs," Jackman told CBS New York. "I suppose for me, the primary concern is my family, obviously."

Thurston was arraigned at a Manhattan court on Sunday afternoon. Police said she was charged with fourth-degree stalking and was unable to post bail.
