NEW YORK (CBS) After a year being off air, Kate Gosselin and her eight kids returned to TV on Sunday for the premiere of "Kate Plus 8."

In the two-hour special, Gosselin's eight children are visibly thrilled and happy to have the cameras back in their lives.

"Everything is back to normal!" one of the sextuplets professed when the cameras re-entered their Pennsylvania home.

The two-part premiere first showed the single reality TV mom take her eight kids to the Discovery Cove in Orlando, Fla., to celebrate the sextuplets' sixth birthday.

Later, the cameras went behind-the-scenes to cover Gosselin as a public figure.  One of the rare moments of the episode involved a testimony from the Gosselin's security guard, Steve Neild.

Neild, who appeared to carry an Australian accent, spoke in front of the camera for the first time, providing insight to the paparazzi-infested world Gosselin lives in.

"In the last 18 months, it's got to the stage where she can't go to California, she can't go to New York, without 20 or 30 paparazzi following her. It's dangerous," Nield said.

But, Gosselin seems to have come to terms with her position in the tabloid world.  "I've been trying to look at the paparazzi and see beyond them and see the people who are seeing what they're putting out there - the people who do support me."

Along with "Kate Plus 8," TLC is set to debut another reality series that will star the mother of eight.  "Twist of Kate" will debute this fall with Gosselin traveling across the country to meet familes with challenges and attempt to "walk a mile in their shoes."
