Justin Bieber says he still loves Selena Gomez

The heart wants what it wants.

Justin Bieber admitted on "Access Hollywood" that he still loves Selena Gomez.

He told Billy Bush, "[She] is someone I love dearly. I'm never going to stop loving her. I'm never going to stop checking in on her."

He did admit that he thought their relationship from 2010 to 2013 suffered from bad timing.

"Yeah, I wrote a song [that] didn't make the album, it was called 'If I Would Have Met You In 5 Years,'" said the pop star. "How true is that? How many people go through life and end up meeting someone and it feels so right, but it's just the wrong time? So many people can relate to that."

Bieber called Gomez his "first love" and admitted that much of his new album, "Purpose," is about her.

He said "probably like three" tracks are about his ex-girlfriend, and he confessed that he might still not be over Gomez, who just released her new album "Revival."

"It was really tough. I don't know if I'm over it yet," explained Bieber. "I think that I'm definitely in another place and I think we've definitely went our separate ways. I love her and I want her to be awesome, but there are things that remind me of her."
