Julianne Moore confirmed for "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay" films

Julianne Moore is taking on a powerful role in the final "Hunger Games" films.

The actress has been cast as President Alma Coin in the two-parter "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay," Lionsgate confirmed Friday.

Moore, a four-time Oscar nominee, will join returning cast members Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth, along with other newcomers including Natalie Dormer, Evan Ross, and Stef Dawson.

"The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1" will be released Nov. 21, 2014, while "Part 2" is scheduled for Nov. 20, 2015.

The second film in the series, "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire," will be released this fall, on Nov. 22.
