(CBS) John Galliano, the British designer dismissed from his post as creative director of Christian Dior for allegedly making anti-Semitic comments, is reportedly heading to rehab for alcohol problems.

According to the New York Times, Galliano left France Wednesday to enter a rehabilitation facility.

It is unknown where exactly he is headed, but it's possible that he will be at The Meadows facility in Wickenberg, Ariz., which is where Donatella Versace and Elton John were once treated, says the Times.

Sources close to Galliano spoke on the condition of anonymity to the Times, saying that he was urged to enter treatment by his colleagues and friends, including supermodels Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell.

The news comes two days before Dior presents its fall 2011 ready-to-wear collection during Paris Fashion Week. Officials of the French fashion house confirmed to the Associated Press Wednesday that it will continue with the show as planned, despite the sudden firing of Galliano.

On Tuesday, Dior said it  began  dismissal procedures against Galliano after a video surfaced on Monday of the flamboyant designer drunkenly exclaiming "I love Hitler."

The fashion house suspended him from his duties on Friday following a separate incident in which he is accused of assaulting a couple with  anti-Semitic remarks in a Paris cafe.
