Jennifer Lawrence says next "X-Men" film will be her last

Jennifer Lawrence says the upcoming "X-Men: Apocalypse" will mark the last time she steps into Mystique's blue body makeup.

Speaking on the red carpet at the premiere of her film "Serena," the Oscar-winner confirmed she'll depart the superhero franchise after next year's film.

"It's my last one, actually," she told MTV News. She didn't elaborate further.

Lawrence, 24, played Raven/Mystique in the rebooted "X-Men" films, starting with 2011's "X-Men: First Class" and then again in last year's "X-Men: Days of Future Past."

This news means the 24-year-old will be shedding two major movie franchises. Her final film in "The Hunger Games" saga, "Mockingjay - Part 2," is due out later this year.

"X-Men: Apocalypse," which brings back returning stars Lawrence, James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender alongside new cast members like "Game of Thrones" star Sophie Turner, opens in theaters May 27, 2016.
