The Loudon County Sheriff's Office says the gun-wielding man walked into the Wachovia bank in Sterling, Va., just outside Washington, D.C., around 9:15 a.m. Monday. The robber brandished his firearm and demanded cash.

As soon as he secured his loot, he fled the bank in an unknown direction. The amount of cash he stole remains undisclosed, reports The Loudon Times.

Kraig Troxell, a spokesman for the Loudon County Sheriff's Office, told the Times that no injuries had been reported.

Witnesses described the robber as a 6-foot-tall black man. He was last seen wearing a black jacket with a red shirt underneath, according to the paper.

The December 27 heist is the second time the Wachovia bank in Sterling's Community Plaza has been robbed this year.

The Loudon Times reports that authorities are asking anyone who was in the area of the Community Plaza or the Towncenter Plaza at Route 7 and Dranesville Road between 8:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. on Dec. 27 and saw anything suspicious to contact Investigator K. Poland of the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Division at 703-777-0475.
