"Gravity" trailer debuts: Sandra Bullock and George Clooney get stranded in space

The first teaser trailer for "Gravity," a space thriller from director Alfonso Cuaron, has arrived -- and it's an intense one.

It starts out tame enough. Two astronauts (Sandra Bullock) are out on a space walk, marveling at their view of Earth as soft music plays in the trailer's background.

Suddenly, things go very wrong, very fast. Their space shuttle is destroyed, leaving the astronauts stranded 372 miles above our home planet, drifting alone in space. Yikes.

Cuaron ("Y Tu Mama Tambien," "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban," "Children of Men") wrote the film with his son Jonas. "Gravity" is set to arrive in theaters on Oct. 4, 2013.
