Girl, 9, accidentally shoots her firearms instructor

A 9-year-old girl accidentally shot her shooting instructor in the head at an outdoor range, authorities said.

The Mohave County Sheriff's Office said the incident took place at about 10 a.m. The girl's parents were at the range when it took place, CBS News Las Vegas affiliate KLAS reported.

The girl was at the shooting range with her parents at the time of the accident. The names of the victim and the girl have not been released.

The victim was airlifted to a medical center in Las Vegas, sheriff's officials told the Associated Press. The victim's condition is not known.
