Ford Motors headquarters in Dearborn evacuated due to fire

DETROIT - The headquarters of Ford Motor Company (F) was evacuated Monday due to a fire.

CBS Detroit reports employees reported smelling smoke before the building was cleared out. A fire was discovered in the basement of the building.

The Detroit Free Press reports the blaze took place at an electrical substation. Officials say they cut power to contain the fire. There were no reports of injuries, the company said in a statement.

The company’s net income fell 9 percent to $2.0 billion in the second quarter of this year as the company struggled with flattening U.S. sales and a tougher market in China. Ford’s Chief Financial Officer Bob Shanks said after an unprecedented growth streak, the U.S. market is starting to plateau.
