Final autopsy report on SDSU student Andrew Bice in Madrid rules out violence, official says
(CBS/KFMB/AP) MADRID, Spain - The final autopsy report on 22-year-old San Diego State University exchange student Austin Taylor Bice, who was found dead in a shallow river that runs through western Madrid, suggests the death was accidental, according to a Spanish court official.
The spokesman for Madrid's Superior Justice Tribunal said Tuesday that the autopsy had ruled out violence as a cause of death. He also said a judge has ordered further investigations before concluding the case but that details of the probes were confidential by law.
Bice's body was pulled out of a Madrid river on March 8, ten days after he disappeared following a night on the town, a police official said.
According to CBS affiliate KFMB, witnesses said Bice and his friends had been drinking at an apartment before going out to a nightclub. A doorman suggested he rest a while before going in because he looked unwell.
There have been conflicting reports about whether Bice may have been too intoxicated to enter the club.
