(CBS News) A new season of "The Bachelorette" begins tonight and single-mom Emily Maynard is bringing a "different vibe" to the ABC reality show.

The 26-year-old Maynard was engaged to NASCAR driver Ricky Hendrick when he died in an airplane crash in 2004. He died before she gave birth to their daughter, Ricki, who is now 6.

"Emily's season is drastically different," said host Chris Harrison, according to a report in  USA Today. "It changed the tone from Night 1."

Instead of filming at the usual "Bachelor" pad in Los Angeles, Maynard chose to film the series in Charlotte where she lives, so she could keep her daughter's schedule as normal as possible.

"You don't have the frat house humor and the frat house drama," Harrison told the paper. "Things have a much more serious tone and bigger issues. It's not the superficial drama you've seen in seasons past."

Maynard starred on the 2011 season of "The Bachelor" and was engaged to "Bachelor" Brad Womack. They split not long after the season finale aired.

"The Bachelorette" airs Monday night at 9:30 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
