Writer, director, actor Edward Burns will appear on "CBS This Morning" Friday.

Burns can next be seen in the movie "Alex Cross," as Thomas Kane, partner to Alex Cross played by Tyler Perry.

The film follows the young homicide detective/psychologist (Tyler Perry), from the worldwide bestselling novels by James Patterson, as he meets his match in a serial killer (Matthew Fox). The two face off in a high stakes game of cat and mouse, but when the mission gets personal, Cross is pushed to the edge of his moral and psychological limits in this action thriller. "Alex Cross" opens October 19.

Burns is best-known for his debut 1995 film, "The Brothers McMullen." He's also been seen in "She's the One," "Newlyweds," "Saving Private Ryan," "The Holiday," and more.
