Dramatic video shows car hitting teen girl, plowing through storefront

AURORA, Colo. -- An employee at an Aurora pizza place says he feels very lucky that he avoided getting hurt when a car plowed into the front of the restaurant where he works on Wednesday afternoon.

CBS Denver reports that Roma Butenko was working at Pudge Brothers Pizza near the Lowry neighborhood at 6th Avenue and Dayton Street when the incident happened.

"I feel very, big lucky," he said. "The car stopped one half meter from me. Phew."

Two people were hurt in the crash and taken to the hospital, but neither wound up with serious injuries.

One of those who was hurt was a 15-year-old girl. Surveillance video from the crash shows the car hitting her while she's walking outside the store. The sedan then slams into the restaurant, through the storefront windows, and takes her with it.

The video clearly shows that once she's inside the restaurant, the girl simply gets up off the car's hood with broken glass all around her and steps away.

Police say the driver accidentally took her foot off the brake. Her passenger, her 15-year-old son, suffered a bloody nose and was checked at the hospital.

Moments before the crash two boys were sitting at a table inside the restaurant eating. Luckily, they got up just before the crash happened.

The video also shows two other people who were entering the store at the time of the crash. Neither of them were injured but clearly look shocked by the sudden nature of the crash.

People also narrowly escaped tragedy at the strip mall where the pizza place is four years ago. In that incident a driver plowed through the front of the mini mart next door, causing $15,000 worth of damage.

Butenko says he moved to the United States from Ukraine a few months ago and he feels like there was a higher power involved.

"God helped me, yes," he said.
