Denzel Washington and director Antoine Fuqua have developed quite a working relationship, starting 15 years ago with “Training Day” -- which earned Washington an Oscar for Best Actor.

Two years ago, they teamed up again for “The Equalizer,” and now they’re back with “The Magnificent Seven,” an update on the 1960 John Sturges film starring Yul Brenner and Steve McQueen.

The film marks Washington’s first foray into the western genre -- but he doesn’t think about it that way.

“I don’t know what a western is, so it’s not like I’m doing one,” he tells CBS News. “That’s something someone calls them. It’s a story that I found interesting that takes place in 1874. This is who I am, this is who these people are, this is what the story is. I don’t know the rules of what a western is -- I don’t want to know.”
