Democrats' Midterm Message: "Move Forward" With us -- or go Back to Bush

The Democratic National Committee is out with a new ad that neatly encapsulates Democrats' message to voters for the midterm elections. The argument? Either "move forward" with us, or "go back to the same Republican policies that got us into this mess."

Only one president makes an appearance in the spot - and it's not the current one.

While President Obama is conspicuously absent from the spot, President Bush makes a cameo, presumably to remind voters what they left behind.

Says an announcer in the spot: "This fall, America faces a big choice: Do we continue to move forward like Democrats are doing? Investing in education for every child, manufacturing right here at home, clean energy powering a new economy. Do we put Main Street ahead of Wall Street? Do we hold big business accountable when they've gone too far? Or do we go back to the same Republican policies that got us into this mess?"

"This fall, our choice is clear," the announcer concludes.

A DNC official said the ad will run on national cable, and argued that it "amplifies the choice voters are going to face this fall between Democrats who have pulled the country out of the ditch and Bush Republican era policies which put us there."
