David Cassidy Strikes Plea Deal, No Jail Time for Actor's DUI Arrest, Says Report
(CBS) Former teen idol David Cassidy, who played Keith Partridge in the 1970s hit sitcom "The Partridge Family," will not go to jail for his November DUI arrest in South Florida, according to a report.
Court officials said Cassidy, 60, agreed to enter a plea deal during a hearing Wednesday afternoon in exchange for a reduced sentence in which he will lose driving privileges for the next six months and be required to complete 50 hours of community service, according to celebrity news site TMZ.
Cassidy was arrested Nov. 3 after authorities said they spotted him swerving on a road in his 2008 white Mercedes, reports CBS affiliate WFOR. Cassidy then agreed to take several field sobriety tests and failed them all, according to the Highway Patrol's report.
Authorities say breath tests at the jail showed his blood-alcohol content at 0.139 and 0.141, well above Florida's legal limit of 0.08, reports WFOR.
In addition to his license being revoked and community service, Cassidy must also pay approximately $500 in fines, complete an alcohol education course, and attend a DUI "victim impact panel" where people who have been affected by drunk drivers talk about their experiences, states TMZ.
