DADT Repeal and Tax Cuts Deal Stall: What's Next?

Will we ever hear the end of "tax cuts" and "Don't Ask, Don't Tell?"

Tax cuts and the repeal of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" continue to dominate news out of Washington. After a week of continuous debate over tax cuts and the rejection of the "DADT" repeal in the Senate yesterday, many are still waiting for a real answer to their questions about the fate of both.

Today on "Washington Unplugged," Ed O'Keefe from the Washington Post and CBSNews.com's Stephanie Condon voiced their thoughts on these trending topics.

There continue to be disputes over who would benefit from the proposed tax cuts, Condon pointed out to host John Dickerson.

"A lot of Democrats are complaining that for some people that are making under $20,000 or for couples making under $40,000, they could even see their taxes go up slightly under this package," she said.

As for "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" the Senate failed to move the bill forward yesterday despite signs that it may have enough support from Republicans.

"People like John McCain and Lindsey Graham, would perhaps stand up and filibuster it," O'Keefe said. "But thinking is, that if they do vote on it after taxes and spending, you might also get George Voinovich, John Ensign, Olivia Snow, maybe even a few other Republicans who would put it way over the 60 vote mark."
