Czech mother suspected of killing three newborns

PRAGUE - Police say that a mother in the Czech Republic is suspected of killing three of her newborn babies.

Spokeswoman Petra Vedrova said that police discovered the bodies after receiving a tip from medical workers.

Vedrova said in a statement Monday that the 25-year-old suspect was rushed to a hospital for treatment following her most recent delivery on Thursday.

Acting on the tip, police inspected the woman's house in the southeastern village of Dolni Dunajovice, finding the dead body of the newborn baby as well the remains of two others who were not twins.

If convicted of three murders she could face up to life in prison.

Police said the suspect was an occasional drug user but did not release any other details.
