Court Rejects Appeal In James Brown Case

The Supreme Court on Monday declined to revive a sexual harassment lawsuit filed by a woman who claims the late soul singer James Brown raped her nearly 20 years ago.

The justices did not comment on their order.

Jacque Hollander said in her lawsuit that Brown raped her at gunpoint in 1988 while she was his publicist. She sought $106 million in damages.

A federal judge dismissed the lawsuit in 2005, saying Hollander waited too long to file. An appeals court upheld the judge's order last year. Brown died Dec. 25 at age 73.
