Cops: Pregnant N.J. woman fatally stabbed by son

GLOUCESTER CITY, N.J. - A New Jersey man is being held on $1 million bail after his arraignment Monday in connection with the stabbing death of his pregnant mother, CBS Philly reports.

Police say Leon Wilson, 21, killed his mother, 42-year-old Scarlett Wilson at a home in Gloucester City Sunday evening.

Officers were called to the home on a report of a domestic dispute. When officers arrived, they encountered Leon Wilson and ordered him to come out of the home. Wilson emerged from the home with a knife in his hand, reports the station. When ordered to drop the knife, he allegedly tossed the knife on the ground and officers detained him.

When police went inside the home, they found Scarlett Wilson, who was pregnant, suffering from multiple stab wounds.

Scarlett Wilson was rushed to Cooper University Hospital, but she later died as a result of her injuries. Her child was delivered and is being treated at Cooper Hospital.

According to investigators, a witness was inside the home with Leon Wilson and his mother at the time of the incident. The witness told police they heard Leon Wilson arguing with his mother.

The witness told police they saw Leon Wilson push his mom to the floor and heard Scarlett Wilson exclaim, "No, no, no," at which time the witness went to another room and called 911, reports the station.

Investigators say the incident appears to have stemmed from an argument between the two.

Leon Wilson was arraigned Monday. He is facing charges of murder.

The incident remains under investigation.
