Cops: Minn. social worker punched during road rage incident

MINNEAPOLIS -- Police are looking for a suspect after he allegedly punched a woman in the face during an incident road rage, leaving her lip swollen and bruised, reports CBS Minnesota.

The victim, a hospice social worker who asked the station to identify her only as Amy, said she was on her way to meet with a client on May 18, when she noticed a driver who appeared to be in a hurry.

"In and out of lanes, and tailing people. I turned left and then all of a sudden I heard screeching brakes," Amy said.

Amy said she never imagined that the driver would follow her and attack her.

"Obviously he had a mission, and his mission was to get me," Amy added.

Then, when she got to a stop sign, the driver allegedly blocked her minivan in, according to the station. The suspect got out of his car and began swearing at Amy, according to witness Dylan Bauer.

"He had blocked her off completely. There was intent behind his parking job to do harm. I heard yelling, expletive this, expletive that," Bauer said.

Amy said that she attempted to lock her car door but accidentally unlocked it. The driver then whipped the door open and -- still swearing at her -- punched her in the face twice.

"You could hear the punches," Bauer added.

He and other bystanders came to aid of the mother of four as the driver sped off, according to the station. They were, however, able to get a license plate number for the car, and police are investigating.

"I don't know what was going through his mind," Amy said. "There are no excuses for what he did, period. We can only hope he learns from his actions and turns out to be a better human being."
