Cops: Couple calls 911 to report possums jumping out of fridge

SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- A South Carolina couple was arrested after they allegedly called 911 five times to report that they saw possums -- and people -- jumping out of their refrigerator and microwave, reports CBS affiliate WSPA.

Police say they may have been high on synthetic drugs at the time. (Not the possums)

Brandon Dwayne Terry and Casey Dawn Fowler of Spartanburg are reportedly facing charges of unlawful use of 911.

According to the station, the couple told a responding deputy they hadn't taken drugs, but then said they wanted to show him pictures of worms coming out of the floor of their vehicle. When the deputy looked at the pictures, he said he saw only a basketball goal and a tree.

Terry reportedly told the deputy there was a person in the photo only he could see. After conducting a background check, police learned Terry had six felony warrants on narcotics charges in North Carolina.

The deputy said he believed the pair may have been using the synthetic drug known as "Flakka" or "Gravel."

Fowler's mother reportedly told the deputy neither had a history of mental illness, but they did have a history of drug use.
