Cops: Boy, 2, shoots girl, 4, while left alone in car at truck stop

OPAL, Va. -- A Virginia man has been arrested after a 2-year-old shot a 4-year-old inside a parked car.

News outlets report 26-year-old Isaiah Marshall Davis and another adult allegedly left three children between the ages of 2 and 4 at a truck stop in Opal when they went inside. Authorities say the 2-year-old boy found a gun and shot the girl in the upper body Friday night.

After returning to the car, police tell CBS affiliate WUSA9 the adults did not seek proper medical treatment for the girl's serious injury. Fauquier County Sheriff's Office Sgt. James Hartman says someone reported a man carrying a girl with blood on her clothes that night.

Sometime later, authorities received another call for service at a motel and discovered the injured child. The child was treated and released from a hospital. The other children weren't injured.

Davis was charged with several offenses including three counts of abuse and neglect of children.

He is currently incarcerated at Northern Neck Regional Jail.  It's unclear if he has a lawyer.
