Competing burger chain offers D.C. "hamburglar" reward if he surrenders

BALTIMORE-- A man is wanted by police after he broke in to a D.C. Five Guys location to make himself a burger. And now a competing burger chain is offering him a reward if he turns himself in, CBS Baltimore reported.

According to a statement, the president of the Wayback Burgers chain, John Eucalitto, will give the suspect free burgers for a year if he comes forward.

"To that gentleman, I'd like to say that we all make mistakes -- from committing this illegal act to your choice of burgers," Eucalitto wrote. "I strongly encourage you to do the right thing and turn yourself in right away."

Police say the incident took place at a 5 Guys restaurant on March 18 between 3:10 a.m. and 5:05 a.m., CBS affiliate WUSA previously reported.

A suspect followed a delivery man into the D.C. restaurant and waited until the delivery man left.

The suspect then rummaged through the establishment, cooked food, and stole bottled water before leaving the restaurant, police said.
