Gloucester Township, N.J. (CBS) A dare-devil purse snatcher crashed into a Gloucester Township grocery store before the escapade came to a screeching halt, say police.

Authorities said a man riding a motorcycle stole a woman's purse outside a ShopRite on Tuesday, then careened through the store entrance, and eventually smashed through a window on the other end of the store.

The alleged victim told officials that the suspect, Kentin Massi, 35, drove onto the sidewalk, and ripped the purse from her shoulder. Officials say ShopRite customers were then forced to jump for cover as Massi and his motorcycle raced through the store.

Police say Massi fled the scene on foot, but he was apprehended by an officer who happened to be at a nearby fast food restaurant.

Massi is being held on $50,000 cash bail and faces charges of robbery, criminal mischief, possession of heroin and related offenses.
