California woman dies after son allegedly sets her on fire

(CBS) LOS ANGELES - A 59-year-old Sylmar woman who police say was set on fire by her son, died on Thursday afternoon, reports the Los Angeles Times.

Heunae Chang was "intentionally set on fire" on Saturday morning and had been "clinging to life" until Thursday, the Los Angeles Police Department said in a statement.

Officers found the woman in her home in the neighborhood of Via Santa Marta.

Phillip Chang, her 25-year-old son, was arrested at the home on suspicion of murder. The LAPD says he is being held in lieu of $1 million bail.

Detectives have not released details regarding the motive of the attack or how Chang was burned, Officer Karen Ranyer told the Times.
