Calif. man who allegedly killed wife after marriage counseling captured

SAN DIEGO - A California man who allegedly shot and killed his wife just after the couple left a marriage counseling session last weekend surrendered to authorities Friday morning, reports CBS affiliate KMFB.

Police say that Jeremy Green had been hiding in Cancun, Mexico since the alleged killing of his wife. Homicide detectives were reportedly able to make contact with Green and after several days of talks, and convinced him to return to the United States.

At approximately 1:00 a.m. Friday, Green turned himself in to San Diego police officers at the San Ysidro Port of Entry. After several hours of interrogation, Green was booked into San Diego Central Jail.

Teressa Green was shot and killed Saturday, June 6. Jeremy Green is accused of killing her and then taking off in a silver Corvette.

Police say the couple had just left marriage counseling when the shooting occurred. A possible murder weapon was found hours after Saturday's shooting by a pair of hikers, KFMB reported. Testing on that weapon began on Monday to see if it is in fact the murder weapon. The weapon was confirmed to be registered to Green, according to police.

On Tuesday, police reportedly found Jeremy Green's car at International Parking. Surveillance video from about 50 minutes after the murder showed a silver Corvette rolling in, and a man resembling Green pulling out a wad of singles to pay the parking fee.

The man was wearing a blue shirt with blue stripes, and then the video showed the suspect changing into a black shirt and black hat after parking.

The suspect then walked towards the border with Mexico.

Court documents obtained by KFMB reveal Teressa Green had filed for divorce citing irreconcilable differences on April 13, 2015, but the date of separation is listed as April 1st.

The couple was married in 2005 and had two children together. In the filing, Teressa asked for physical custody, but wanted to allow the children visitation with their father.

Documents also reportedly showed that the couple filed for bankruptcy twice, once in 2008, and again in 2014.
