Calderon Applause Line: No Bank Bailouts in My Country
Here's a nice an illustration of just how unpopular the U.S. bank bailouts have become with members of Congress -- and, by extension, the general public.
This morning, Mexican President Felipe Calderon was addressing a joint meeting of Congress when he made a pointed comment about his own country.
"Thanks to strong regulations," he said, "not one cent from taxpayers went to a single bank in Mexico last year."
The line garnered widespread applause - from the very body that passed the Troubled Asset Relief Program back in December 2008.
