(CBS) BOSTON - Brittany Thompson, a 17-year-old missing Massachusetts girl, was found safe in Rhode Island Thursday morning, police say, according to CBS Boston.

Thompson, of Medfield, a suburb south of Boston, was discovered walking with a man from Missouri in Coventry, R.I., Medfield Police Chief Robert Meaney confirmed.

No criminal charges have been filed in the case. The man Thompson was found with is being called a "person of interest," but not a suspect, in her disappearance, the station reports. His name has not been released.

Thompson, who is described as being developmentally delayed, disappeared after leaving the Medfield Public Library with an unidentified man around 4:30 p.m. Monday. Meaney said it is not clear if the person Thompson was found with is the same man seen leaving the library with her.

The teen's father, Michael Thompson, initially told CBS Boston his daughter may have been with a man she met online.
