Bob's Blog: The fight against ISIS continues

The news sure has piled up this week.

We marked an important turning point in the fight against ISIS: President Barack Obama and U.S. allies advanced the campaign of air strikes into Syria. Some may say this was the wrong turn, but I'm in the camp that believes this was the right decision for the country.

President Obama also took a firm stand at the United Nations General Assembly meeting and declared that the U.S. and its allies would "dismantle this network of death," referring to ISIS.

Have the strikes been successful? And which groups exactly are we targeting? For the Obama administration's perspective, we'll hear from Deputy National Security Adviser Tony Blinken.

Also joining us is Sen. Tim Kaine, a Virginia Democrat who sits on the Senate Armed Services Committee. Congress is out of session right now - campaigning for re-election - but Kaine believes lawmakers should have voted on the president's plan to launch air strikes in Syria.

We'll also get insight and analysis from some of Washington's top foreign policy minds. We'll talk to former Gen. Carter Ham, who commanded American troops in Iraq and led initial U.S. airstrikes in Libya three years ago. We'll also talk to Michèle Flournoy, former Undersecretary of Defense for Policy, as well as Mike Morell, former deputy director of the CIA and CBS News senior security contributor.

In addition to all the news from abroad, there is a major shake-up here at home: Attorney General Eric Holder is stepping down. Although his departure from the administration doesn't come as much of a surprise, we'll discuss his legacy and find out who is on the short list to replace him.

To discuss this all and more, we'll turn to our panel.

We'll hear from Peter Baker of The New York Times, Kim Strassel of The Wall Street Journal, Michael Crowley of Time Magazine as well as Ruth Marcus and Michael Gerson of The Washington Post.

Tune in this Sunday to hear about what is happening all over the world. Check your local listings.
