Bill Nye treated after "Dancing with the Stars" injury

Bill Nye "The Science Guy" is also the injured guy.

"Dancing With the Stars" producers say the 57-year-old TV personality received medical attention Tuesday after he was hurt during his most recent performance.

"Here is the scoop: partially torn ligament," Nye explained on Instagram, sharing a photo showing his leg wrapped and elevated with professional partner Tyne Stecklein by his side. "Awaiting the doc's orders with Tyne. We plan to dance! Stand by..."

Nye and Stecklein performed a paso doble routine on Monday's episode that received 17 out of 30 possible judges' points. Before the season began, Nye told CBSNews.com he was "extraordinarily nervous" to dance on live TV but said he's "in it to win it."

Injuries have been fairly common during the show's 17 seasons. Olympian Misty May-Treanor had to withdraw from the show after tearing her Achilles tendon during rehearsals. Melissa Gilbert gave herself whiplash and a mild concussion during a high-energy paso doble last year.
