Beyonce is Forbes' most powerful celebrity

Beyonce Knowles is tops when it comes to the world's most powerful celebrities.

The R&B/pop superstar, who just kicked off a tour with husband Jay Z, leads Forbes' 15th annual Celebrity 100 ranking this year.

NBA star LeBron James came in second, a big jump from last year's 16th place slot. And Dr. Dre, who landed at No. 3, shot up quite a bit from his previous 63rd place ranking thanks to Apple's acquisition of his successful Beats company. Previous list-topper Oprah Winfrey dropped to fourth place, while Ellen DeGeneres came in at No. 5.

It's not too surprising to see Beyonce's name at the top of the list. In December, she surprised fans with a new album and continues to make headlines for everything from music to fashion and her daughter, Blue Ivy.

Forbes points out that the top 10 includes five women and seven African-Americans.

To come up with the list, Forbes looks at finances and fame, including earnings between June 1, 2013 and June 1, 2014. Forbes also examined mentions on social media, print, TV and radio.
