At least 77 U.S. troops in Afghanistan wounded in 9/11 eve attack

A truck bomb attack on a NATO military base in Afghanistan's eastern province of Wardak Afghanistan has wounded at least 77 American soldiers, AP reported. In addition 25 Afghan civilians were wounded, and at least two civilians died.

According to AFP, the Taliban have claimed responsibility for the bombing. "It happened at 5:15 pm on Saturday. It detonated near the entry point at a combat outpost, resulting in 89 wounded in action and a 20-foot [six-meter] hole in the wall," U.S. Army Major David Eastburn told AFP.
