At least 1 dead, 2 wounded in Beaumont, Texas courthouse shooting, report says
(CBS/AP/KFDM) BEAUMONT, Texas - At least one person is dead and several others injured after a man allegedly opened fire at the Jefferson County Courthouse in Beaumont Wednesday morning. According to CBS affiliate KFDM police have taken the suspect into custody.
Beaumont EMS and Fire told KFDM that a man shot and killed an elderly woman, and shot at least three other people, including one outside the courthouse, one in the basement of the County Clerk's Office and one at the bus transfer station. Two victims, including one woman in her 20's, were reportedly taken by ambulance to a hospital with several gunshot wounds.
Police responded to the call of shots fired at the courthouse at about 11 a.m.
The suspect reportedly left the courthouse and went inside a building two blocks away, next to the Chamber of Commerce, where police were able to capture him.
