James Harris, 56, was arrested Friday and charged with murder, robbery, rape, burglary, sexual assault, criminal trespass and theft, among other charges in connection with the killing of Wright, who was found dead in her Philadelphia apartment on Thursday, July 16.

Authorities say Harris, who has an extensive criminal history, may have been hired as a handyman, reports CBS Philly.

Authorities say Wright was found dead on her bed and appeared to have suffered blunt force trauma to her face and head. Investigators found no signs of forced entry into the home.

During a news conference Friday, Philadelphia Police Captain James Clark called Harris a "monster," according to the station.

Authorities say he has been previously been arrested 31 times, including once for murder. It is unclear whether he was convicted.

Wright graduated earlier this year from Drexel University's School of Public Health.
