Arizona executes Richard Bible for killing 9-year-old girl in 1988

(CBS/AP) FLORENCE, Ariz. - Arizona executed 49-year-old Richard Lynn Bible Thursday morning for molesting and fatally bludgeoning a 9-year-old Jennifer Wilson in 1988.

Bible received a lethal injection at the state prison in Florence after being on death row for more than two decades.

He failed to win any of his appeals. Most recently, he asked an appeals court and the U.S. Supreme Court to delay his execution for DNA testing on hairs used as evidence in his trial.

Bible was convicted of kidnapping and killing the Yuma girl while she was on vacation with her family in Flagstaff. Hikers found Jennifer Wilson's naked, decomposing body three weeks later.

Bible is the 90th inmate Arizona has executed since 1910, and the 25th to die by injection.
