Amanda Bynes pleads "not guilty" to DUI

Los Angeles Police Department

(CBS News) Amanda Bynes has reportedly pleaded "not guilty" to one count of misdemeanor DUI. The charge stems from an incident roughly two months ago when authorities say she grazed a sheriff's patrol car in an early morning accident.

TMZ reports a lawyer for the actress entered the plea on her behalf Wednesday. The 26-year-old Bynes was not in court.

The celebrity site also reports that the D.A. has sought a stiffer than usual sentencing because of Bynes' refusal to take either a breathalyzer or a blood test.

A pretrial court date has been set for July 18, according to TMZ.

Though, the actress has already started pleading her case. On Tuesday, she asked President Barack Obama hear her out.

"Hey @BarackObama...I don't drink," tweeted the 26-year-old Bynes. "Please fire the cop who arrested me. I also don't hit and run. The end."
