Baldwin was set to star in the adaptation of the hit Broadway musical, but sources told  The Hollywood Reporter that he is backing out of the film. No reason  was given  for withdrawing.

The "30-rock" star was cast as Dennis Dupree, the owner of the Bourbon Room, the Sunset Boulevard nightclub at the center of the movie.

Director Adam Shankman announced on March 5  via Twitter.that the Emmy-award winning actor would be joining the star-studded cast.

Even without Baldwin, "Rock of Ages" still has an impressive cast: Tom Cruise, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Russell Brand, Paul Giamatti, Malin Akerman, Bryan Cranston, Mary J. Blige, Julianne Hough, and Diego Boneta.
